Beginning in 1994,each year on December 13,people from all walks of life in Nanjing hold special ceremonies to commemorate their compatriots killed in the Nanjing Massacre.Warning sirens resound and doves signifying peace are released as a reminder to the people not to forget the history.This picture was taken in Nanjing on December 13,1998 at the venue where people gathered to observe and mourn the victims of the Massacre.

Every year,the Japanese Tree-Planting Group to China under the Japan-China Friendship Association comes to the Memorial to commemorate the victims of the Massacre.They plant trees as a way of expressing their remorse.They call it"Green Redemption."

In 1994,the world Religious Friendship delegation to China led by the Japanese Monk Furukawa Tairyu visited the Memorial and prayed for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre.

In December,1996,The diaries of Mr.John Rabe,the then Chairperson of the International Committee for the Nanjing Safety Zone were discovered in Germany.It has eight volumes,2460 pages.The picture shows two versions of Rabe's Diaries in Chinese and Japanese,published in China and Japan.

Iris Chang's book:The Rape of Nanjing:the Forgotten Holocaust of World WarⅡ. The pictures show three different editions published in the United States( in Chinese).Madame Iris Chang is a well-known writer in the States.
